Wait for the Holy Ghost
By Pastor Andre Butler

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.... But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth
Acts 1:4, 8

Now wait a minute. Jesus had just told His disciples to go unto the world and preach the gospel. He had just told them all the signs that would follow them. But the next thing He said was: "Wait. Don't leave just yet." Why?

They needed to be baptized by the Holy Ghost to be able to do the works of Jesus. Jesus knew this better than anybody else because once the Holy Ghost came on Him, He was ready to go.

When a witness of the gospel preaches the gospel, signs follow. A witness provides evidence. Jesus told them, "Yes, you heard the message, but before you are ready to deliver the message, you need some Holy Ghost power. Not only will my words come out of your mouth, but also my works will follow."
