Right Interpretation
By Pastor Andre Butler
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth
2 Timothy 2:15
When you study, you need to rightly interpret the Word of God. There are many people who have been Christians for many years, but who still cannot rightly divide the Word. They haven't heard solid preaching from the Word, and they haven't bothered to study the Word themselves. As a consequence, they believe and practice some things that are not scriptural.
If you are not sure what God is saying, then you have more studying to do. Only through study can you know if you are rightly or wrongly interpreting God's Word.
As a preacher, if there's a Scripture I'm meditating on, and I don't get it, I don't preach it. I have to reach a point where I can prove it in the Word before I will preach it. When I can prove it, I can brand this into my thoughts and into my heart and preach with confidence and conviction.
