Hosea 10:13-15

Hosea 10:13-15 King James Version (KJV)
13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.
15 So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.

Hosea 10:13-15 Expanded Bible (EXB)

13 But you have plowed •evil [wickedness; iniquity]
and •harvested [reaped] •trouble [evil; injustice];
you have eaten the fruit of •your lies [deception; treachery].
Because you have trusted in your own •power [or chariots]
and your many •soldiers [warriors],
14 •your people will hear [L against your people will rise] the •noise [roar; tumult] of battle,
and all your •strong, walled cities [fortresses]will be destroyed.
It will be like the time King Shalman
destroyed Beth Arbel in battle [2 Kin. 17:3],
when mothers and their children were •bashed to death [dashed to pieces].
15 The same will happen to you, •people of Bethel [L Bethel],
because •you did so much evil [your wickedness is great].
•When the sun comes up [or When judgment day dawns; or As swiftly as the dawn; L At dawn],
the king of Israel will •die [L be completely cut off].

13 He is comparing their faith to farming, this was something most of them knew about, they were bringing out more and more sin and there was no correction for the sins on their part. They believed in things other then God’s word, today can be like this. They relied on what they had and who was with them instead of the Lord, those who are without the Lord often times trust in something else.

14 For humility God takes away the things we are prideful for, the things that keep us from Him, Israel was about to loose everything so that they would turn back to God out of their distress.

15 The kings of Israel would be done away with; we have the King in Jesus. They would lose all that they trusted in instead of the Lord. God will take away these things in our life if they stand in His way.
