Hosea 14:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
14 O israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
3 Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
Hosea 14:1-3 New Living Translation (NLT)
Healing for the Repentant
14 Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God,
for your sins have brought you down.
2 Bring your confessions, and return to the LORD.
Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.
3 Assyria cannot save us,
nor can our warhorses.
Never again will we say to the idols we have made,
‘You are our gods.’
No, in you alone
do the orphans find mercy.”

1 When we sin we need to repent or to turn from our sin back to the Lord. We should not be submissive to our fleshly sinful desires but instead submit to His Lordship, this is what they needed to do and something we need to do daily as Christians, deciding we are going to follow Jesus and not our desires, the flesh.
2 We need to confess to Him, even though He knows our sins, it is good for us to admit we aren’t the victim of the sin but by Him we are over comers of these sins. We have no hope of coming to Him without forgiveness, this forgiveness is made possible only because of Jesus dying on the cross for sins.
3 They could not trust the world to save them, they had tried that, they had turned to the other gods but it lead them into further problem. Sin often builds our problems but sometimes it takes time to see this or for it to be revealed. We need to know God is our true help, this doesn’t mean He wont send others to aid us but means for us to have this aid we first need to look to Him and get ourselves first right with Him, this only happens by us coming to the altar of the cross.
