Hosea 8:1-3

Hosea 8:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
8 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
2 Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
3 Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.

Israel Has Trusted Wrong Things

8 “Put the trumpet to your lips [C to warn of danger or call to battle]!
The enemy •swoops down on [or circles over] the LORD’s •people [or temple; L house] like an eagle.
The Israelites have broken my •agreement [covenant; treaty]
and have •turned [rebelled] against my •teachings [law; L Torah].
2 Israel cries out to me,
‘Our God, we in Israel •know [acknowledge] you!’
3 But Israel has rejected what is good,
so the enemy will •chase [pursue] them.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 Trumpets were blown to announce war a new king or a call to worship. Vultures would eat dead things, they were lives in the Lord were nonexistent anymore, they were spiritually dead. They were dead because they chose to live in rebellion and sin rather then following after the Lord.

2 They cry out but have no intention of getting right with the Lord, they continue to live for their own pleasures and wants rather then live to make the Lord happy.

3 The Lord was going to allow the enemy to come after Israel does to their lack of faith. When are faith is lacking is when the enemy will most likely attack to keep us down but God will allow him to attack to have us turn back to Him.
