| Hosea 2:8-9King James Version (KJV)8 For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.
9 Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.
Hosea 2:8-9Expanded Bible (EXB)
8 But she does not •know [acknowledge] that I was the one
who gave her grain, new wine, and oil.
I •gave her much [lavished on her] silver and gold,
but •she [they the nation] used it for Baal.
9 “So I will come back and take away my grain •at harvest time [L in its time]
and my new wine •when it is ready [ in its season/appointed time].
I will take back my wool and •linen [flax]
that covered her nakedness.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
8 What we have is given to us from God. He gives us everything and without Him we have nothing. He gives us blessing when we deserve nothing from Him. He deserves our praise even if we have nothing because even when we have nothing He still is Lord but He has chosen to bless us. They took they blessing of God and used them for false worship, how often do we today misuse what God has given us.
9 God gives and takes away, He does this here because of them turning from Him, there comes a time of disobedience we have things taken away from us by God. God was not just going to take what they had but stop them from gaining more until they turn back to Him. Nakedness symbols shame, God was going to put them out until they were shamed. | |
