How can I stop gophers digging in my garden?

I was just telling my 3 yr old grand daughter that my Dad used to put a hose down the gopher hole and turn the hose on and the water floods the hole and they leave. Anyway that was the premise. I cannot recall if it worked but we kids got a big kick out it. lol

Batman I am not sure if it works if it does not here is a link to other tactics to take and they suggest the water in the hole too.

I tried putting water down the gopher hole and it work.
