Hosea 13:12-14 King James Version (KJV)
12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.
13 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.
14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
Hosea 13:12-14 New Living Translation (NLT)
12 “Ephraim’s guilt has been collected,
and his sin has been stored up for punishment.
13 Pain has come to the people
like the pain of childbirth,
but they are like a child
who resists being born.
The moment of birth has arrived,
but they stay in the womb!
14 “Should I ransom them from the grave?
Should I redeem them from death?
O death, bring on your terrors!
O grave, bring on your plagues!
For I will not take pity on them.

12 God can give us guilt but we also can have a false guilt from this world. Sin will be either forgiven by the blood of Jesus or will be punished by judgment, they reject God and by doing that they rejected His grace and would then be punished for their rebellion.
13 Child birth is one of the most painful experiences said to be of man but it is often a blessing from holding the new baby. Child birth can be long a drawn out if the baby isn’t willing to be born and some babies fight it. There punishment would be a fight, they may fight but this would only make it harder because as much as that baby fights it still is to be born and just as they fight it doesn’t change they should serve the Lord, as we should.
14 As Christians we realize thru this world we were dead but now we live and are made alive in Christ. These people were on a path that lead to their death, the path of sin, the path they chose but we aren’t to be on this path, Jesus is the Way and we are to follow Him.
