Here are some tips on how to fast.

It’s extremely important that you drink lots of water. You should drink more than eight eight-ounce glasses per day.

Lead up to the fast by eating fruits and vegetables the day before. If you had hard to digest food the day before it will remain in your stomach during the fast and the body will be spending much energy digesting it. When you eat foods that are hard to digest you feel lethargic, tired and drained. You want the full benefits of the fast so abstain from this type of food at least a day before. You want your system to be free so the energy would be available for studying the Word and for prayer, and you would be more receptive to the Spirit of God.

When you are done fasting, do not right away begin eating foods that are hard to digest. This causes the body shock and can make you very ill. If you do a juice fast, for example, come off of the fast gradually, eating fruits and vegetables, working your way back up to meat.

There are different types of fasts you can choose from and here are some examples:

• You can go on a water-fast, where you have only water for the period.

• You can go on a juice fast for the period. I make my own juice free from chemicals and preservatives. I blend carrots, celery, red beets and apples and add water.

• You can choose a one-fruit or one-vegetable fast, where you eat only one vegetable or one fruit for the period of the fast.

• You can even go on the type of fast Daniel did, recorded in Daniel 10:2-3.

At that time I was mourning for three weeks. I did not eat any rich food or any meat, drink any wine, or comb my hair until the three weeks were past (Daniel 10:2-3).

If you are serious in seeking God, make a commitment to pray and fast, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in how you should fast.

Friends, the only way to the top is by the narrow path, and with sadness, I’m reminded that few will walk it. Let us walk it now, with new strength and determination, empowered and guided by the very Spirit of our Almighty Father, each step of the way.

Do not stop seeking God. You want to able to feel Him through your blood, bones, in your heart, mind, soul and spirit. Keep seeking Your Heavenly Father and He will reveal His face to you and speak with you.
