The Awesome Price Paid For You

There are very few movies or TV shows that adequately portray the sufferings of Jesus Christ as they actually happened. That’s because any realistic portrayal of the sufferings of Jesus Christ would be considered too violent!

But if you’ve seen a movie like “Passion of the Christ,” you know the extent to which the Roman government went to cause pain through the process of crucifixion.

Yet, even when you watch that gruesome and realistic reenactment of the sufferings of our Lord, it’s important to remember that behind the physical sufferings of Christ was a spiritual reality that far surpassed the physical pain. When Jesus died on the cross, He “who knew no sin (became) sin for us …” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Beyond the physical pain, Jesus Christ experienced excruciating spiritual suffering on the cross. And in doing that, He took your sin, nailed it to the cross and enabled you to have eternal life through faith in Him.

Don’t diminish the meaning of Christ’s crucifixion on the cross. Instead, stand in reverent awe of the price He paid when He became sin on your behalf so that you “might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Prayer for the day:

Ask God to give you a new perspective of the awesome price Jesus paid for you. Pray He opens your eyes to the depth of your sin and give you a sense of the amazing grace of Christ!
