Over the past few devotionals, we've been discussing what it means to die with Christ and become alive with Christ. Today, let's discover what it means to reign with Christ.

The apostle Paul, telling us about this all-important part of the believer's life in 2 Timothy 2:11-12 says, "This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him."

To reign with Christ means we will have to endure seasons of challenging times. The Kingdom of God is a shadow today, one we see as though we are looking through a dim glass (1 Corinthians 13:12). So our reign with Christ, though a present reality, has yet to be brought to fulfillment in the physical sense.

So until the day when Jesus returns from heaven, destroys sin and the works of Satan, and sets up His Kingdom on earth, reigning with Christ will mean we need to endure today's hardships with an eternal perspective. That's right … we can live as victors today in life's ongoing spiritual battle by knowing without any doubt that our victory against Satan and the powers of darkness is already won!

Live in victory today with the knowledge that your enemy has already been defeated. That's how you reign today … by looking forward to your eternal reign with Christ!

Prayer for the day:

Pray a prayer of victory, thanking God that your enemy has already been defeated. Ask Him for strength to face your everyday challenges with an eternal perspective.
