On May 9, 2012, President Obama told Robin Roberts of ABC News that his position on gay relations has now evolved to the point that he thinks "same-sex couples should be able to get married."

Speaking of himself and his wife, the president said: "We're both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others; but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing Himself on our behalf, but it's also the Golden Rule, you know? Treat others the way you'd want to be treated." It's certainly true that the Lord sacrificed Himself for us. And it's certainly true that Jesus was the first to articulate the Golden Rule. "Do to others as you would have them do to you, for this sums up the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12).

But there's a flaw in the Theologian-in-Chief's understanding. Citing the Old Testament, Jesus said, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh" (Mark 10:7-8. One man. One woman.

Today people sometimes say that Jesus never condemned homosexuality. But He did when He condemned pornea (from which we get the word pornography). In Matthew 15:19, Jesus condemned a host of sins, one of which is pornea. This word is translated as "sexual immorality." It would include all the sexual sins prohibited in the Old Testament, such as pre-marital sex, adultery, homosexuality, incest, and bestiality. But the Bible doesn't just stop there on the issue. It says that gays can be freed from this lifestyle. Just like other sinners, which is good news for all of us.

Many years ago, there was a panel discussion on Fox News on the issue of leaving the homosexual lifestyle. Everyone was either gay or ex-gay. The gays were bent out of shape by the ex-gays, trying to make the point that they had either never really been homosexual or that they still were, but were simply suppressing their true identity, their homosexuality. The host made the point that the ex-gay movement was born in California in the 1970s (with the birth of Exodus International, now headquartered in Orlando) and that one of the founders had fallen back into the lifestyle.

Contrary to the ex-gay movement being born in the United States in the 1970s, it was born back in the first century. Paul the Apostle wrote to the Christians in the Greek city of Corinth and spoke against a host of sins, including homosexuality, but then he adds, "And that is what some of you were, but you were washed ...." In other words, they were changed. Change is possible. Thankfully, there are thousands alive today who have been so changed. I've had the privilege of interviewing several former homosexuals and lesbians.

One of them said: "As a homosexual, when I laid my head down at night, I had to think about all the shame I felt. I felt, even though I said I was free and was very happy about being gay, there was still a feeling of entrapment. I felt like I had committed myself to something that I really was not sure that I could handle. And because of that, it drew me into a fury of trying to prove myself. And I found that most of my friends were the same way. You had to continuously prove yourself in that lifestyle."

But he found freedom through God: "And I think about when Christ says that who the Son shall set free is free indeed, you know. And when Christ did set me free, I thought about, 'Wow. Here I am a Christian and I can truly express myself, and I feel no shame, no guilt, no nothing.' I would take the worst day as a Christian knowing Jesus Christ, rather than the best day without Him."

The rights that activists claim they seek in gay marriage, such as inheritance rights or hospital visitation rights, are rights they already have -- and well they should. But marriage involves the law, so this involves forced acceptance. Homosexual writer Andrew Sullivan said more than a decade ago: "If nothing else were done at all, and gay marriage were legalized, 90 percent of the political work necessary to achieve gay and lesbian equality would have been achieved. It is ultimately the only reform that matters."

There's a reason society has laws related to who can get married. As the family goes, so goes society. Same-sex marriage is simply another nail in the coffin of the American family, along with the spectacular failure of so many heterosexual marriages that fail to follow God's commands to the husband and wife as set forth in the Bible.

The president may continue to get feted by the liberal media and the Hollywood left for embracing same-sex marriage. He may continue to rake in millions into his re-election coffers. But with all due respect, I think he seriously misrepresents the Savior when he claims that Jesus would favor same-sex marriage.

We live in those times where the spirit of the anti-christ is alive and well, on planet earth....

When I started on another forum on the web a few years ago, rights for atheists, gays, pagans, and others of a similar disposition were starting to peak..although there were lots of comments..it was easier as a Christian to make viable comments and to quote from the Bible as a way of showing these people that how they were living was in direct opposition to God, but now with the backing of the UN,( who have always been in the background fomenting change in this direction..that's another story that needs to be told one day) these groups have become bolder and issues, such as gay marriages are more openly accepted.
The younger generation accept this is as a natural part of living, in the 21st century.
Other people are no longer restrained in openly being hyper-critical of Christians, as we are seen as being hostile to how others live, namely gays. Jesus Christ often quoted from the Old Testament and are we to do anything less ? 10 years you would hardly know a gay person, yet now I know of quite a few.
What was once seen as shame, has now gone out the door. But here I am reminded of the song that Carmen sings, about where he says that "if it gets to the point where people would rather come out of the closet, than clean it, it is a sign that the judgment of God is gonna fall." ... and it's coming.

We are not sitting in judgment on these people ,whom God loves as much as us and He has told us that the angels in Heaven rejoice over one sinner that repents, so even though it is sometimes very foggy out in the world we still are committed to show His love and His righteousness in an unrighteous world....telling others about Him; His free gift of life and the blessings that come from knowing Him, both here and now, and eternally, are things that have to be experiencied on a one-to-one basis, for each of us are individuals before God. We know this as His children but the world out there doesn't so it's hard to fathom lots of times. Harder still for those who don't know Him.
10 years ago,no nation would admit to being agreeable to same-sex marriages yet now we have just had the 19th country in the world pass it as a legal act of government..Time is critical..for we are saved, yet so many are perishing for lack of love and knowledge.

Can you commit to pray weekly for those in our communities who are lost and dying ?
God knows who they are and He has put us where we are for a reason. He knows the best ppl to pray and connect with His other children, the ones who are still lost.
As for President Obama and his views..they are shared by so many of the world 's governments...it's about compromising your faith, to go with the flow. Shaking hands with everyone and agreeing with them...to keep the peace. because underneath the facade of smiles and openness, lurks fear..
But where the Spirit of the Lord is, is liberty and freedom.The visible difference between darkness and the Light!

Today, America needs God again.

Thank you ((Linda)) for your continuous news reports on this very controversial subject that has been heralded as something we all should embrace.
I cannot believe that this is being embraced in England and around the world.
Surely we are seeing the ushering in of vile and dispicable activity in our states, countries, and cities. We are seeing it daily in our schools those homosexual advocates trying to steal our freedoms while endoctrinating good wholesome kids into believing that this lifestyle is a part of being normal. Nothing can be more far from the truth. I heard a prophetic say that the Antichrist will be an atheists homosexual coming out of the middle east. I believe we will see this happen in our time.
God is still on our side and will still hear our prayers and protect us.

Thank you (((Jemm))) for supporting our nation in this travesty of justice that has set homosexual in the cat bird seat and has been tearing down the family for years to bring it to this horrible halt.
We will not embrace the lies of the devil in any form and we will not allow our kids or grand kids to be saturated with lies either about this being a normal lifestyle when it truly is not.
I would not be surprised to hear that Obama has give the homosexuals more power since he has an evil mind and agenda for turning our country into a third world one so he can plunder it as he has shown that he wants to be a dictator much like Napoleon but even Napolian met his waterloo.
When he first took office the Lord told me that his end would be like that of King Saul.
I trust what I got from the Lord. Praying for the world not to be held in bondage to this vile man heralded to be so good because he is black. But there are Godly black men that do not approve of him nor did they support him because of his vile agendas.
We all need to be praying for our nation to rise up and not allow the dems to destroy our country. It is sad that Ted Kennedy sold our country out when he got Obama into the white house. He was always the black sheep of that family.
