I want to spin a different light on this. Being from a science background and being saved, I can see this possibly being in harmony. Before you leave and get upset, Do you think God, when He created the universe, that He might have created that first hot "ball" of light. He said "Light Be" and it was. Then I believe it expanded and formed the universe much as we see it.
I don't follow that it happened without cause (God creating), and many secular scientists now believe that there had to be a creation by a creator. They just don't know Jesus.
Creation was no accident, and the Bible should confirm what science discovers (as long as the scientists do honest, unprejudiced experiments) and present the data without prejudice.
One thing the big bang shows is the universe has age. So it must have had a beginning (scientists agreeing). The Bible says God created it. That is when it began.

Again, creation was no accident. God created. Man resists God, but every tine he (man) does research, God's handiwork continually shows up.

Big bang, well the hundred year old "theory", does match very close to Genesis, but not perfect (God had it written 6000yrs ago). Some say God was the big bang when He said " Let there be light", after Earth was created, and then provided the sun and stars...but the big bang would be light, sun, then earth. If you try, and I have, it can rack the brain matching it with too much related to chemistry and physics, but we are talking about God. His scientific methods can not be re"created", and they shouldnt be, or He would not be all that is God. Let Him do it out of order in relation to our research and discovery of the formation of elements. He is the Creator. I am not one to question His Creation methods.

Today, as we view the stars, our response should be one of praise to the Creator, giving Him (not a naturalistic mathematical model) the glory for its creation. And maybe someday, in eternity, He will give us the privilege of exploring the infinite universe, understanding it more fully and more completely, praising Him as Creator.
