Yoga: Satan's Counterfeit Salvation

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3)

Satan teaches that every person was once one with God, having all the powers of God i.e. omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence, but lost these powers after they were separated from God thousands of rebirths ago. Satan teaches that the main goal of man is to find his way back to God (who he says is an “impersonal and infinite life force”) through practices of yoga (which are also being taught by the evil one) so man can once again realize his alleged godhood.


What is Yoga?

Yoga has its roots in Hinduism. Yoga is believed to have originated 26,000 years ago during a period called “The Golden Age”. Stone seals found in the Indus Valley that are approximately 5000 years old are the earliest evidence of yoga’s origin. These show figures resembling the god Shiva and goddess Parvati practicing forms of Yogic exercises and meditation. It is vital at this point to remind you that there are no real gods or goddesses. All gods and goddesses are demons.

The word ‘yoga’ came from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ which means “to yoke” or “to unite”. Yoga means the unity of the human soul and God –Who is believed to be an impersonal and spiritual force.  The yogi practices yoga in an effort to unite themselves with their false idea of God and regain their once lost divinity/godhood. A yogi who accomplishes this is said to be Self/God-Realized. Other terms for Self-Realization are: Samadhi, nirvana, cosmic/infinite consciousness and enlightenment.

The Hindu god Shiva is believed to be the founder of yoga and Parvati his first disciple. Shiva is believed to be the first guru and the first “yogi”. In fact he is called the “King of Yogis”. It is taught in yoga philosophy that Shiva bestowed the “gift of yoga” to mankind so that human beings could come to a realization of their alleged godhood.

The evil one goes by many names, and “Shiva” is one of them. “Shiva” is another name for Satan in the Satanic Bible. Satan and Shiva own the same title of “destroyer” in religious texts. The Hindu god Shiva is actually Satan, who appeared in the form of Shiva to the Hindus to teach the lie of yoga.

The doctrines of yoga are lies and the evil one’s counterfeit salvation. By these lies the evil one aims to lead people astray from the true salvation God offers to mankind that is found only in the Son of God, Jesus Christ.


True Salvation vs. Satan’s Counterfeit

The Bible teaches us that God is a spiritual being Who has a personality, not an impersonal force, and He created all beings and things for His pleasure and glory.

God created us out of love (Jeremiah 31:3) and He doesn’t want us to be separated from Him because of our sins. He loved the world so much that He sacrificed His own Son Jesus Christ to pay for our sins so we could have a relationship with Him and spend eternity with Him in His kingdom (John 3:16).

Jesus came to pay for our sins with His blood (Matthew 26:28) because without the shedding of blood there would be no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22), and no other blood besides the blood of the Son of God was sufficient to pay for our sins. We are all sinners and we cannot be redeemed and saved unless we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and His shed blood as payment for our sins.

Reincarnation does not take place after a person dies. After a believer dies, they go to paradise to be with Christ (Luke 23:43). If a person dies without accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they would not be forgiven by God. After death, the demons claim them and drag them to a terrible place called Hades (Acts 2:31, Luke 10:15). All those in Hades will be later thrown into the eternal lake of fire along with Satan, his hosts and all who refuse the true and only way of salvation offered in the Lord Jesus Christ. Burning in the everlasting lake of fire is known as the “second death” (Revelation 20:6, 13-15).

God sent His only Son Jesus Christ, Who is very precious to Him, to come in flesh on the earth and become a sacrifice on a cross to save us from this. It shows the extent of love God has for us, and He wants us to choose Him and find Him through His Son Jesus Who is the only way to God, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

The evil one and his minions work to spread their lies about Jesus Christ so they can bring as many individuals as they can to destruction. They aim to convince people that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God, the true Lord of all, and lead people to deny the atonement Christ made for our sins, and His resurrection.

The truth about the Son of God is found in Scripture but many have embraced the lies of the evil ones. Some say that Jesus was a master of magic/occultism. Others deny that He was the Son of God and say He was a prophet. Those who practice yoga claim Jesus was a Self-Realized yogi. Reiki practitioners would consider Him a Reiki master and a great number of people accept Jesus as just one of their thousands of gods.

The truth about Jesus Christ can be found only in the word of God which is the Holy Bible. Verse 16 of chapter 3 of the first book of Timothy speaks about Jesus:

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)

Jesus is God’s only begotten Son (John 3:16) Who was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23) and Who possesses the very nature and will of God Almighty (Colossians 2:9; John 10:30). Jesus was not a “highly evolved man” or someone who possessed magical powers. He was there with God before the earth and everything else in the universe was created and Jesus was not created (John 1:1-14). If you examine the verses John 1:1-14 you will find that God created all things by Jesus Christ Who is also known as “The Word” and “The Word” is God. Jesus Christ is God Who serves a function as the Son of God. The Holy Spirit is also God Who serves a different function. God as the Father, God as the Son and God as the Holy Spirit make up the Trinity which is three persons in one God.

Verse 9-11 of chapter 2 of the book of Philippians tells us that Jesus Christ is Lord over all:
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippins 2:9-11)

During His time on earth, Jesus preached the gospel and the wisdom of God to multitudes, healed the sick, cast out demons from those suffering from demonic possession (Matthew 4:23-25) and brought the dead back to life (Luke 7:11-17). His ultimate purpose was to become a sacrifice for our sins (Matthew 20:28).

Out of His infinite and everlasting love, God sent His Son Jesus to save us (John 3:16; 1 John 4:14). Since all of us are sinners (Romans 3:23), and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), God sent us His only Son as a sacrifice for our sins so that we could be saved and have eternal life. All who genuinely believes/accepts this truth will have the gift of redemption and eternal life (John 3:16).

After death on the cross, Jesus resurrected (Romans 14:9; Matthew 16:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:14) and ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-11) where He is seated on the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1).

False doctrines claim that there are several paths to God. Scripture/the word of God tells us that there is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ. Verse 6 of Chapter 14 of the book of John says:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

Verse 36 of chapter 3 of the book of John reveals:

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

In John 14:1-3, Jesus spoke of his second coming. John 5:22 tells us that God has given Jesus authority to judge all of mankind and verse 30 of the same chapter tells us that the judgments of Jesus will be fair because He and His Father share the same perfect will.

Salvation for mankind comes not by our works of righteousness but by our faith in accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for our sins (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and Jesus will raise them up at the last day (John 6:38:40).

The acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and your personal Lord and Saviour is the only way to salvation. The evil one and his hosts are working very hard to lead human beings away from this truth.

One of the evil one’s greatest lies is that infinite potential is lying dormant within human beings and all humans are evolving into godhood. The evil one teaches that the goal of every human should be to speed up this evolutionary process through certain practices which he also teaches, so that they can become like gods and realize their oneness with their creator and their oneness with all of creation. This realization is known throughout the world especially by yogis and new-agers as “Self Realization” or “God Realization”.  

Self-Realization is believed to be man’s salvation from disease and death. Yogic philosophy teaches that when a yogi is enlightened or Self-Realized, they are perfectly united and identified with God and possess the realization that they had always been and always will be God Who is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.

Through yogic practices, one also acquires mystical powers or “Siddhis”. Powers possessed by human beings come either from God or Satan. Since the practices of yoga were taught to humans by the evil one, we know where these powers come from. Here are the Eight Major Siddhis (taken from a Yoga-Age.com article):

“An accomplished, Purnayogi in the path of Kundalini Yoga is in possession of eight major Siddhis, viz., Anima, Mahima, Laghima, Garima, Prapti, Prakamya, Vasitvam and Ishitvam.
1. Anima: The Yogi can become as minute as he pleases.
2. Mahima: This is the opposite of Anima. He can become as big as he likes. He can make his body assume a very large size. He can fill up the whole universe. He can assume a Virat Svarupa.
3. Laghima: He can make his body as light as cotton or feather. Vayustambhanam is done through this Siddhi. In Jalastambhanam also the power is exercised to a very small degree. The body is rendered light by Plavini Pranayama. The Yogi produces a diminution of his specific gravity by swallowing large draughts of air. The Yogi travels in the sky with the help of this Siddhi. He can travel thousands of miles in a minute.
4. Garima: This is the opposite of Laghima. In this the Yogi acquires an increase of specific gravity. He can make the body as heavy as a mountain by swallowing draughts of air.
5. Prapti: The Yogi standing on the earth can touch the highest things. He can touch the sun or the moon or the sky. Through this Siddhi the Yogi attains his desired objects and supernatural powers. He acquires the power of predicting future events, the power of clairvoyance, clairaudience, telepathy, thought-reading, etc. He can understand the languages of the beasts and birds. He can understand unknown languages also. He can cure all diseases.
6. Prakamya: He can dive into the water and can come out at any time he likes. The late Trilinga Swami of Benares used to live for six months underneath the Ganges. It is the process by which a Yogi makes himself invisible sometimes. By some writers it is defined to be the power of entering body of another (Parakaya Pravesh). Sri Sankara entered the body of Raja Amaruka of Benares. Tirumular in Southern India entered the body of a shepherd. Raja Vikramaditya also did this. It is also the power of keeping a youth-like appearance for any length of time. Raja Yayati had this power.
7. Vashitvam: This is the power of taming wild animals and bringing them under control. It is the power of mesmerising persons by the exercise of will and of making them obedient to one’s own wishes and orders. It is the restraint of passions and emotions. It is the power to bring men, women and the elements under subjection.
8. Ishitvam: It is the attainment of divine power. The Yogi becomes the Lord of the universe. The Yogi who has this power can restore life to the dead. Kabir, Tulsidas, Akalkot Swami and others had this power of bringing back life to the dead.”

These powers are very different from the powers God gives to His people through His Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the very Spirit of God and is therefore not a being that is apart from Him. All those who accept the Son of God, Jesus Christ, as their Lord and Saviour and have faith in Him are filled with the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3). God sends the Holy Spirit to live within believers. In John 14:16-17, Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as a Comforter and a Spirit of Truth that lives within those who believe in Him.

1 Corinthians 12:8-10 reveals that God’s Holy Spirit bestows a certain spiritual gift upon each believer. There are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and they are: the (i) Gift of Wisdom, (ii) the Gift of Knowledge, (iii) Faith, (iv) Healing, (v) Working of Miracles, (vi) Prophecy, (vii) Discerning of Spirits, (viii) Divers (or different) Kinds of Tongues and (ix) Interpretation of Tongues. These are not developed through practices but rather given as gifts by God for the edifying of His Church (1 Corinthians 14:12).

Satan’s wants us to believe we can become gods so we would remove and not place our trust in God and worship ourselves. Many people were destroyed and many more are going to be destroyed because of this cleaver lie.

Do you recall the lie he told Eve in the Garden of Eden? The devil deceived her by saying that her Heavenly Father, the Almighty God was lying to her and Adam, and if they ate of the forbidden fruit they would not have died but their eyes would open and they would become gods (see Genesis 3). Eve believed this lie and ate the forbidden fruit then offered it to Adam who also ate of it. This resulted in the fall of mankind.

The practice of Yoga is the vain attempt of man to be as God. Isaiah 14:12-15 and chapter 3 in the book of Genesis reveals both the fall of Satan and of mankind was the consequence of their desire to be like the Most High.

The practice of any form of yoga is believed to raise the “kundalini” or “serpent power” at the base of the spine to the brain which leads to Samadhi or God-Realization. Isn’t the devil/Satan called “a serpent” in Revelation 20:2? Didn’t Satan speak through a serpent in chapter three of the book of Genesis? The rising of a serpent power within a human being is certainly demonic possession.

The methods taught by Satan for God Realization i.e. the practices of yoga are used by millions of people, even those who call themselves “Christians”. These methods as well as the false doctrines of yoga have passed down through generations of mankind for thousands of years are being propagated throughout the world by the evil one and his demons.


How dangerous is Yoga?

Millions of people who engage themselves in the practice of yoga (in whichever form) are not aware of the grave dangers of this practice. When practiced, yoga is like an insidious cancer that consumes the soul.

There is no safe way to practice yoga. Also, all forms of yoga, including “Hatha Yoga” which seems like harmless physical exercise set you up for demon possession. I was informed by Christian elders who form a deliverance ministry at a nearby church that numerous persons came to them for deliverance from demonic possession caused by practicing yoga.


Wrong and Right Meditation Practices

The type of meditation practiced in yoga (Eastern Meditation) is very different from the type of meditation that is taught in the Bible. Eastern Meditation renders the mind passive and open to demonic possession and also induces astral projection. After some practice, the soul of the yogi separates from its physical body and journeys through the spiritual world, leaving the body like an open vessel for demons to enter.

The Bible does not teach meditation as a means of uniting the soul with an impersonal life force nor does it teach the concept of Self-Realization. However, many false teachers will twist and corrupt the truth of the Word of God to teach the lies of Satan (see 2 Peter 2:1). True meditation means contemplation and reflection on the word of God (Biblical Scriptures).

In Psalm 27:12, David says:

“I will meditate also of all Thy work, and talk of Thy doings.” (Psalm 27:12)

Again in Psalm 119:97, he says:

“O how I love Thy law! It is my meditation all the day.” (Psalm 119:97)

Another scripture on Biblical meditation:

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

Verse 8 of chapter 4 of the book of Philippians instructs us where our minds must be at all times:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8


Symptoms of “Enlightenment”

Through the practice of yoga, the yogi seeks to experience a feeling of unity with God (who they believe is an impersonal life force), a sense of ecstasy, and the realization that “all is one and one is all”. A yogi may come to experience all of these things. However, he most likely would not recognize the real forces responsible for these realizations and feelings. Evil spirits, just like drugs, can give a person the sensation of bliss, altered and cosmic consciousness and all sorts of spiritual experiences, while simultaneously destroying the person from inside out.

Below are excerpts from two online sources which reveal the dangers of “awakening the kundalini/serpent power”. Here is what the first says concerning an “awakened kundalini”:
“Briefly, according to classical literature the signs of an awakened kundalini can be grouped into: mental signs, vocal signs and physical signs. Mental signs can include visions that range from ecstatically blissful to terrifyingly frightful. Vocal signs can include spontaneous vocal expressions that range from singing or reciting mantras to make various animals sounds such as growling or chirping. Physical signs include trembling, shaking and spontaneously performing hatha yoga postures and pranayamas.

From a more subjective perspective the more pleasant experiences associated with a kundalini awakening may include: waves of bliss, periods of elation, and glimpses of transcendental consciousness. The less pleasant experiences associated with a kundalini awakening may include: trembling, sharp aches in areas associated with the chakras, periods of irrational anxiety, and sudden flashes of heat.”

The second excerpt (below) refers to the effects of “kundalini awakening” as the “Kundalini Syndrome”.

This psychosomatic arousal and excitation is believed to occur in connection with prolonged and intensive spiritual or contemplative practice (such as meditation or yoga).

Sensory symptoms are said to include subjective changes in body temperature (feelings of heat or cold), a feeling of electricity in the body, persistent sexual arousal syndrome (vd. Gopi Krishna and Irina Tweedie's books), headache and pressure inside of the head, tingling, vibrations and gastrointestinal problems. Cognitive and affective symptoms are said to include psychological upheaval, stress, depression, depersonalization or derealization, intense mood-swings, but also moments of bliss, deep peace and other altered states of consciousness. Every one of the signs listed above is a symptom of demonic possession. Ask any experienced Christian counsellor or deliverance minister and they will tell you these are common signs of demonic possession. “Kundalini awakening” is another term for demonic possession. The signs you have just read are symptoms a person should expect if they are practicing any form of yoga.

Do not fall for the widely accepted lie that yoga is a way to increase your energy levels, improve your health and well-being and attain so-called oneness with God. Every form of yoga is meant to cause demonic possession and destruction of the soul. I strongly encourage you to enlighten others on the truth of this evil and dangerous practice.
