"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

In this passage, Jesus gives the blueprint for the Christian lifestyle. He tells us what to do and He tells us what He will give us. He tells us what to carry and He gives us the result. He tells us who He is and He tells us what we'll find. Then He tells us that all of this will be easy and light.

Jesus tells us what to do.

Jesus said that we should come to Him. This is because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that no man can go the Father except through Him (John 14:6). He is the source of all of our delight and His blood is the protector of every Christian. There is nowhere else to go that is safe.

Jesus tells us what He will give us.

Jesus said that if we would come to Him, He would give us rest. The rest that Jesus has is different than the rest that the world has. Rest in the world requires power and self-reliance. Rest in Jesus requires obedience and trust in Him. He has completed the work.

Jesus tells us what to carry.

Jesus said to take His yoke upon us. One of the greatest sources of discouragement and discontentment is when a Christian carries a crusade that is not from God. Good personal agendas can accomplish a little, but a God-given agenda will accomplish everything.

Jesus gives us the result.

The result of taking His yoke is that we find rest for our souls.

Jesus tells us who He is.

Jesus said, "I am gentle and lowly in heart." Our Lord and Savior is kind.

Jesus tells us it will be easy and light.

The work of the Gospel and the good fight of faith are easy and light. The success of the world pales by comparison to the joy, peace, and happiness that comes from the yoke and burden of Jesus.

Life is in the blood! The power to stand against anything that this world has to offer is in the blood of Jesus. The power to defeat Satan and sin in our lives is in the blood!
