Hosea 8:10-12

Hosea 8:10-12 King James Version (KJV)
10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
12 I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

Hosea 8:10-12 Expanded Bible (EXB)

10 Although Israel •is mixed [or hired; or hired herself out] among the nations,
I will gather them together.
They will •become weaker and weaker [begin to waste away]
•as they suffer under [from the burden/oppression of] the •great king of Assyria [L king of princes].
11 “Although •Israel [L Ephraim; 4:17] built more altars to remove sin,
they have become altars for sinning.
12 I have written many •teachings [laws; instructions] for them,
but they think the teachings are •strange and foreign [alien; irrelevant].

10 It has been said before by a wealthy man that if he could not find friends, then he would buy them. Israel was doing this with their allies, they looking for what they could get. The allies of Israel would be taken before Israel.

11 This altars that it refers to are pagan altars to foreign gods, which Israel served instead of them serving the true Lord. They also went to serve the Lord at the altars but while living a life for the pagan gods.

12 They no longer cared about God’s laws or their relationship with Him; they would not have known God’s laws if they were told them, this is how far they had fallen. Today we live in a world that does not understand and also be littlies God’s Word for the majority this is even done with some church houses, were are to stand strong by His word and not go astray as Ephraim did, we seek Him and not after the things of the world.
