- Hosea 1:2-3King James Version (KJV)
2 The beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord.
3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

Hosea’s Wife and Children
2 When the Lord began speaking through Hosea, the Lord said to him, “Go, and ·marry [L take for yourself] an ·unfaithful woman [or prostitute; L woman/wife of prostitution/harlotries] and have ·unfaithful children [L children of prostitution/harlotries], because ·the people in this country [L this land] have ·been completely unfaithful to [practiced prostitution/harlotry against] the Lord [C they have been spiritually unfaithful; C Gomer may have been a prostitute or promiscuous woman before the marriage, or only afterward].” 3 So Hosea ·married [L went and took] Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she ·became pregnant [conceived] and gave birth to Hosea’s son.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
2 The Lord spoke to and thru the prophets this was not something He did often Abraham went years before hearing from God, I am sure the prophets had it the same way for some of them. To take a whore as a wife is not something any body would want to do; those of the world may want a whore but would not marry her. To make a family with a whore was something that often may have happen by mistake not something that was planned. It was to show how Israel had been treating God.
3 He follows after God’s command even though it is not typically done. God often works in ways that are not typical but wants are obedience. God will never have us go against God’s word though.
My thoughts are that Hs1:2 gives us the definition of harlot.
Hs1:2 ...for the land[Israel] hath committed great whoredom,
departing from the Lord.[KJ]
The people of Israel in the land turned from God as did Judah and Jerusalem as seen in Dan9:5
5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by
departing from Thy precepts and from Thy judgments
Ezekial23 is more cause and effect of a harlot in God’s eyes.
The Spirit of jealousy[Nu5] brings iniquity to remembrance[Rev18:5].
Then I consider the mother of harlots[Rev17:5] ‘Mystery’ Babylon.
‘Mystery’ in that the land was unknown[Job38:26] at the time of the writing of The Revelation(90AD)
‘Babylon’ was the greatest economic and military power the world had ever seen, for 70 years, overthrown by Persia.
‘Harlot’ is a land of people turned from God.
Babylon is not among the 7 churches of Revelation2-3; the ‘things which are’, but is a land, a nation of people.
& that history repeats itself: Ecc1:9, 3:15
Isaiah1:2 -
Hear O heavens! and give ear o earth!
For the Lord God has spoken!
"I have nourished[God bless America] and brought up['...endowed by our Creator...'] children[Hbs3:6-Christ over His own house; a Christian nation]
And they have rebelled against Me"["We are not a Christian nation”]
The ox knows its owner
And the ass his masters crib
But America does not know
We the People do not consider
Alas, sinful nation...
21 -
How[Hs1:2] the faithful['In God We Trust'] city[Rev17:18] has become a harlot[Rev17:5]
It was full of judgment, righteousness[10 Commandments] lodged in it[@SCOTUS]
But now murderers[Roe v. Wade]
Lev26:16-19
But if ye will not hearken unto Me, and will not do all these commandments;
And if ye shall despise My statutes, or if your soul abhor My judgments, so that ye will not do all My commandments, but that ye break My covenant:
I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror...
America is in a 'War on Terror’ since 9/11, it began in 1979AD.
Jer51:21
Go up against the LAND, even against it,
and against the INHABITANTS:
waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the Lord,
and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
Job34:29
When He giveth quietness, who then can make trouble?
and when He hideth His face, who then can behold Him?
whether it be done against a nation,
or against a man only.
What think ye?
